Birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and what's the first thing I see this morning?
THREE, STRATEGICALLY-PLACED, COLOSSAL BLEMISHES.
To my amusement, they are placed diagonally from my mouth so I discovered if I contorted my lips into the shape of a square, my face definitely looks like the little dipper. While I found this entirely too comical, it was also an astronomical pain in the butt.
Being a makeup artist, it's my job to have "perfect", "clear" skin-- but just like everyone else, my skin is a slave to hormones and makeup and everything else that it comes into contact with. Because skin has the most unbelievable timing, breakouts never happen when you have the next two days off from work to recover-- they happen the day of prom, morning of your bridal photos, or hours before a big presentation at work. That being said, there are ways to hide it and heal your skin with haste.
As I began to plot my skin crusade, I remembered that I have this blog and I should share the steps that I take to battle my blemishes during the work week:

Why THOSE Products
As you can see, I prefer to use the Glo Professionals brand of skincare, foundation and concealer. Glo is a pharmaceutical-grade cosmetics company whose products are free of parabens and dyes. They also provide an advanced antioxidant blend of Vitamins A, C, E and Green Tea Extract for makeup that doesn't just camoflage, it improves and restores your skin's natural balance. This line is perfect for coverage during breakouts because it has healing elements that alleviates irritation and soothes your skin while you're wearing it. I can literally sleep in this stuff!
Why THOSE Brushes
Brushes are a very testy subject with makeup artists. Most makeup artists are very adamant about selling customers the "top of the line" brushes-- well those also come at a "top of the line" price. I am not in any way trying to knock the expensive brush manufacturers, but brushes are an investment. As a makeup artist, the brushes I use on my clients are very different than the ones I use on myself. I use the ELF brand brushes on myself because they are cheap and they do their job. They may not be made of otter or badger hair, or widdled from a rare arrangement of exotic wood, but if you can master the cheap brush you'll be better for it. I think these expensive, top-notch makeup brushes are fantastic and I have some myself but I do makeup for a living. If you want to purchase the more expensive brands, there is nothing wrong with that-- more power to ya! I just wanted this specific tutorial to be the bare basics of skin care and blemish coverage so that everyone has the oppritunity to benefit from it. You shouldn't have to suffer through your day with acne just because you can't afford the fancy skin care products or the exclusive cosmetic brands.
Where To Find Them
Glo Professionals cosmetics and skin care products can be purchased on their website. You can also buy them from a local retailer by using the Glo Professionals 'Store Locator' on their website. I currently provide Glo Professionals foundation matching, makeup lessons, applications, etc. at La Bichette in Dallas, TX. You can book online or call the salon directly and request me!
ELF cosmetics and brushes can be found at Target. Depending on the Target location, they may not have every brush that I listed above. If they do not carry the specific brush you need, you can purchase it on their website.
